David Rubin, MD

David Rubin, MD, is a senior gastroenterology fellow at the University of Chicago. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Chicago, where he was selected to be the chief medical resident in 1998. He chose to specialize in gastroenterology because of a family history of colon cancer. His research interests include colon-cancer screening and early diagnosis, clinical genetics, and the relationship between inflammatory bowel disease and colon cancer. He is also known for his work in medical education and the doctor-patient relationship, with a specific interest in training residents and faculty to be more effective teachers of medical students. He is a frequent speaker in the medical school and has published several original abstracts and review articles in these areas. Rubin is combining his final year of a fellowship in clinical medical ethics.
