A former trauma specialist and head of emergency medicine for Westchester County Medical Center in New York, she combines the best of alternative and conventional medicine in her work.
"You can teach people about medicine, diet, exercise, lifestyle, and prevention, but I try to affect each person directly to help them improve their lives," says Schwartz.
Born in Romania and raised in Italy, Schwartz combines a diverse cultural background and fluency in five languages with her American medical credentials. Her postgraduate training in internal medicine and critical care was completed at Kings County Hospital Center in New York. Before that, she graduated from New York University, received her MD cum laude and was a member of the prestigious honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha, from SUNY-Downstate, where she currently serves on the Board of Managers.
Schwartz also provides educational and clinical services nationally via television, radio, and print. She founded Medical Updates Inc., a multimedia corporation dedicated to providing information to corporations, physicians, and the public. Montefiore Medical Center sponsored and aired a four-year television program produced and hosted by Schwartz, called Health Horizons.
Schwartz has appeared on television programs like The View, on morning shows, in newspapers, and in women and men's magazines, answering questions about hormones and stress, hormones and aging, and hormones and the life cycle. She recently founded the International Hormone Institute to research and educate the public about natural hormones.
