Joel Fuhrman, MD

Joel Fuhrman, MD, is a board-certified family physician in private practice in Belle Mead, N.J., who specializes in preventing and reversing disease through nutritional and natural methods. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and is an active staff member of Hunterdon Medical Center. Dr. Fuhrman provides nutritionally oriented medical care to patients as well as nutritional education to other physicians.

Dr. Fuhrman was a former member of the United States World Figure Skating Team and placed third in the world in pairs figure skating, so naturally he has an interest in sports medicine, fitness, and preventive medicine.

As one of the country's leading experts on nutrition and natural healing, Dr. Fuhrman has appeared on hundreds of radio and television shows, including Good Morning America, CNN, Good Day NY, The Food Network, and many more. He has been interviewed for Esquire, Woman's World Magazine, Food and Wine, Ebony, Health Confidential, Mothering Magazine, Health Science, Bottom Line, and many others.

Dr. Fuhrman's unique expertise has enabled thousands of patients to achieve recovery from what are usually considered chronic, irreversible illnesses. These include most chronic illnesses such as asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, angina, coronary artery disease, fatigue, fibromyalgia, migraines, and high blood pressure, as well as many other autoimmune diseases such as lupus and inflammatory bowel disease.

Through years of experience in helping patients remove the cause of disease, Dr. Fuhrman has learned that individuals may have unique biochemical and physiologic differences that have to be considered to devise the optimal recommendations for them to get well and maintain optimal health. For example, he does not recommend the same diet or the same type of supplementation for everyone. He does not recommend that everyone is an appropriate candidate for fasting.
