Karen Reno, PharmD, BCPS, APh, is a freelance writer for WebMD. She earned her BS double majoring in biochemistry and biology with a concentration in physiology from San Francisco State University (2013), her Doctor of Pharmacy (2018) from the University of California San Francisco (UCSF), and completed a postgraduate acute care residency at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Healthcare System (2019). She is a licensed advanced practice pharmacist and maintains her board certification as a pharmacotherapy specialist.
Reno works as an ambulatory care clinical pharmacist at Kaiser Permanente. She practices in primary care and specializes in diabetes, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia. She is dedicated to education, serving as a preceptor for pharmacy students and postgraduate pharmacy residents.
