Marijke Vroomen Durning is a registered nurse (RN) and a freelance health writer in Montreal, Canada. Durning always wanted to be a writer, but her parents urged her to pursue something more practical. She worked as a nurse for several years, including caring for new mothers and people in hospice. Durning turned to health writing after realizing that she could combine it with her nursing knowledge to help educate people about health and medicine.
Durning has been published in MSN Lifestyle, Forbes.com, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Stanford University, and Sepsis Alliance, among others.
When she’s not in front of her computer, Durning often is in her sewing room, designing and creating quilts.
