What is Tezspire used for?

Tezspire (tezepelumab-ekko) is commonly used to treat severe asthma.

Tezspire may also be used for other conditions as determined by your healthcare provider.

How does Tezspire work (mechanism of action)?

Tezspire works by blocking a natural chemical in your body, called thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP), that is involved in airway inflammation. This helps prevent severe asthma attacks and can improve your breathing.

How is Tezspire supplied (dosage forms)?

Tezspire is available in the following dosage forms that are injected under the skin (subcutaneous).

  • 210 mg/1.91 mL (110 mg/mL) single-dose pre-filled syringe
  • 210 mg/1.91 mL (110 mg/mL) single-dose pre-filled pen
  • 210 mg/1.91 mL (110 mg/mL) single-dose vial

How should I store Tezspire?

Tezspire should be stored in a refrigerator between 36 F to 46 F (2 C to 8 C). It can be exposed to temperatures between 68 F to 77 F (20 C to 25 C) for up to 30 days. Do not put Tezspire back in the refrigerator once it has reached room temperature. Store Tezspire in the original container to protect it from light. Do not freeze Tezspire or expose it to heat.

What are the most common side effects of Tezspire?

The most common side effects of Tezspire are listed below. Tell your healthcare provider if you have any of these side effects that bother you.

  • Sore throat
  • Joint pain
  • Back pain

What are the serious side effects of Tezspire?

While less common, the most serious side effects of Tezspire are described below, along with what to do if they happen.

Severe Allergic Reactions. Tezspire may cause allergic reactions, which can be serious. These reactions can occur within hours to days after a dose. Stop using Tezspire and get help right away if you have any of the following symptoms of a serious allergic reaction.

  • Breathing problems or wheezing
  • Racing heart
  • Fever or general ill feeling
  • Swollen lymph nodes
  • Swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat
  • Trouble swallowing or throat tightness
  • Itching, skin rash, or pale red bumps on the skin called hives
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Dizziness, feeling lightheaded, or fainting
  • Stomach cramps
  • Joint pain

Who should not use Tezspire?

Allergies to Ingredients. People who are allergic to any of the following should not use Tezspire.

  • Tezspire
  • Tezepelumab-ekko
  • Any of the ingredients in the specific product dispensed

What should I know about Tezspire before using it?

Do not use Tezspire unless it has been prescribed to you by a healthcare provider. Use it as prescribed. This medicine is to be injected under the skin. Make sure that you or a caregiver understands how to properly prepare and use Tezspire. If you have any questions, talk to your healthcare provider.

Do not share Tezspire with other people, even if they have the same condition as you. It may harm them.

Keep Tezspire out of the reach of children. Since this medicine must be kept in a refrigerator, take special precautions to keep it away from children who also use the refrigerator.

Do not shake Tezspire.

Tezspire is not used to treat sudden breathing problems. Tell your healthcare provider if your asthma does not get better or if it gets worse after you start treatment with Tezspire.

If you take another medicine called a corticosteroid, do not stop taking it without talking to your healthcare provider. Stopping corticosteroids too quickly while you are using Tezspire may cause withdrawal symptoms or make other health conditions worse. If you need to stop taking corticosteroids, your healthcare provider will give you instructions on how to stop the medicine.

What should I tell my healthcare provider before using Tezspire?

Tell your healthcare provider about all of your health conditions and any prescription or over-the-counter (OTC) medicines, vitamins/minerals, herbal products, and other supplements you are using. This will help them determine if Tezspire is right for you.

In particular, make sure that you discuss any of the following.

Vaccines. You should not receive any live vaccines right before or while using Tezspire. Tell your healthcare provider if you have recently received a live vaccine or have any scheduled.

Current and Past Health Conditions. Tell your healthcare provider if you have a parasitic (helminth) worm infection

Pregnancy. It is not known if or how Tezspire could affect pregnancy or harm an unborn baby. Tell your healthcare provider if you are or plan to become pregnant.

Breastfeeding. It is not known if Tezspire passes into breast milk. Tell your healthcare provider if you are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed. Your healthcare provider will advise you if you should use Tezspire while breastfeeding.

Overdose/Missed Dose

What should I do if I accidentally use too much Tezspire?

If you or someone else has used too much Tezspire, get medical help right away, call 911, or contact a Poison Control center at 800-222-1222.

What should I do if I miss a dose of Tezspire?

If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and only use the next dose. Do not use double or extra doses.

If your healthcare provider gives you Tezspire, your healthcare provider will make sure you are receiving Tezspire as scheduled. If you miss an appointment to get your Tezspire dose, call to make another appointment as soon as possible.
