Laura Berman, PhD, is a trained psychotherapist who has been working as a sex educator and sex therapist for over a decade. She is co-founder and co-director, with her sister Jennifer Berman, MD, of one of the first clinics in the country dedicated to the treatment of female sexual dysfunction, the Center for Women's Urology and Sexual Medicine at the UCLA Medical Center. The Bermans also are founders of the Network for Excellence in Women's Sexual Health.
Considered an expert and leader in her field, Berman has been quoted in numerous popular publications, including Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Fitness, Redbook, Discover Magazine, Ladies Home Journal, The New York Times, Boston Globe, Los Angeles Times, and Miami Herald. She has appeared on NBC Later Today, Good Morning America, CNBC, America's Health Network, and the NBC and ABC News for both local and national affiliates. She also has been featured in numerous publications and television programs abroad.
Berman is on the foundation board of the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality (SSSS) and a member of the American Association of Sex Educators Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) and the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). She has been involved in numerous clinical sexual pharmacology trials, including testing the effectiveness of Viagra and other drugs and treatment devices on women's sexual complaints.
Berman completed her master's in clinical social work and doctorate in health education and therapy, specializing in human sexuality, at New York University. She completed a training fellowship in sexual therapy with the department of psychiatry at New York University Medical
