Leslie Rubin, MD, is director of academic and medical programs at the Marcus Institute. He also works at the Emory University School of Medicine, where he serves as director of the Division of Developmental Pediatrics and associate professor of pediatrics.
Rubin specializes in the treatment of children and adults with developmental disabilities. Originally from South Africa, where he trained in pediatrics, Rubin came to the United States to specialize in neonatology and developmental pediatrics. Initially at the Hospitals of the Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, Rubin moved to The Children’s Hospital in Boston and the Harvard Medical School, where he stayed for 14 years.>
Rubin left The Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School to develop the interdisciplinary program at the Marcus Institute and in the Department of Pediatrics at Emory University School of Medicine in 1994. He has assembled a set of interdisciplinary clinical services and established pediatric residency and fellowship training programs. Rubin has also been instrumental in the establishment of the International Adoption Evaluation Center at Hugh Spalding Children’s Hospital in Atlanta.
Rubin is currently active in the Georgia chapter of the Academy of Pediatrics in the disabilities committee and is chair of the home health committee. He has co-edited two books, Comprehensive Management of Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Disabilities: Delivery of Medical Care for Children and Adults.
