Babies start developing speech and language at a very, very early age, even while they're still in the womb. I recommend that families speak to their children in full sentences. Babies do not need to hear baby talk. They develop their language best when they hear robust language. They need to hear full sentences. They need to hear a variety of words.

They need to start hearing this from a very early age. They learn best when they actually hear their parents speak to them, when they hear other people speak to them, not necessarily from the television. It's also very important for children to have books read to them.
