Steven Cook, MD

Steven Cook, MD

Steven Cook, MD, became interested in the ear, nose, and throat diseases of children during his residency in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at Temple University Hospital. During this period he had the opportunity to spend time at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, learning some of the aspects of this particularly unique branch of otolaryngology. He worked at St. Christopher’s Hospital for a year, upon completion of his residency training.

He then worked for the Veteran’s Administration in Delaware for more than a year and a half and decided to enter private practice in Wilmington in 1985. He first had a general ear, nose, and throat practice. Cook began consulting that year at the Alfred I. duPont Institute, a children’s rehabilitation and orthopaedic hospital.

At that time, the hospital was broadening its range of services to become a full service children’s hospital. His interest in children’s diseases prompted him to restrict his private practice to pediatric otolaryngology in 1990. In 1995, he closed his private practice to become a full-time employee of the duPont Institute. The hospital changed its name to the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children. In 2000, Cook became chief of the Division of Pediatric Otolaryngology. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in medical management.

Cook is affiliated with Thomas Jefferson University as a clinical assistant professor in both the department of otolaryngology and in the department of pediatrics.

He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine in Great Britain, as well as a member of the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology and the Society for Ear, Nose and Throat Disorders in Children.
